Still on the Mend and January Goals

I can't believe that this cold/respiratory infection continues to drag on after six weeks!  Although I am feeling better (and have been able to get back to the gym--finally!) I am still not 100%.  I still have to blow my nose 17,561 times a day and I still wake up every morning coughing up a lung.  I can't remember the last time I was this sick for this long.  It has been pure T miserable.  I have seen more of my living room than I care to while perched on the couch with my girls.  It was nice to have some 70 degree weather over the weekend (70 degress in January--holla!) and the fresh air was wonderful on our walk to the park on Monday.

I did make it to the gym this week after several weeks of doing next to nothing.  My girls have homeschool co-op classes one day a week and I have a couple of hours in the morning when all three of them have class.  My gym just so happens to be less than three miles away so I plan to start going there during that time each week to do intervals on the treadmill (or outside on the track when the weather is nice).  This week I did a 10 minute warm up followed by one minute faster than normal (6.5-7 mph), with a one minute recovery and repeated the one and one intervals six times.  Then I walked and ran off and on until I hit a mile.  I ended up doing 4.2 miles in an hour.  Slow, yes, but this was my first day back.

And I'm down a couple more pounds.  I'm almost back to 30 pounds lost.  Woot woot!

My goals for January are:

  • lose 5 pounds
  • Run 40 miles
  • Log onto My Fitness Pal everyday
